Description
The Zapadoslav Republic, better known as Zachodnia, is a country in Central Europe. It came into existence after the dissolution of the European Union in 2039 under the name of the Central Europe Federation by the merger of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. The Czech city of Prague became the capital city of the union. The country was named after the West Slavic peoples and constituted their first union.
In 2041 the Russian Federation invaded Lithuania in the Neman War, in an attempt to link Russian Kaliningrad to Belarus. Zapadoslavia intervened on Lithuania’s behalf, liberating the small Baltic nation from Russian occupation. Peace was achieved with the Treaty of Vilnius in 2043, ending the two-year occupation of Lithuania and putting Kaliningrad under a five-year occupation by Zapadoslav forces.
Today in 2045 the Zachodnia is one of Europe’s most powerful countries, the last remnant of the European Union which had united the continent some thirty years prior.
Why would the capital be Prague? Wrocław would be a nice compromise. Or Cieszyn, almost of the border of all the (federate?) States.
